New Wanted Poster for al-Shabaab Leadership
Yesterday the Long War Journal released an image of what it says is a poster prepared by the U.S Government 'Rewards for Justice' program titled "Faces of Terrorism".
Added to the 'wanted list on 7 June 2012 the U.S Government is offering a combined toal of $33 million for 'information leading to the location of the seven al-Shabaab leaders on this poster. Although photos are provided for five of these leaders (in order) - Sheikh Abu Mukhtar Robow, Bashir Mohamed Mahamoud, Sheikh Fuad Mohamed Khalaf, Abdullahi Yare and Ahmed Abdi Aw Mohamed (Godane; Abu Zubeyr) - it fails to include any photos for Ibrahim Hajj Jama (al-Afghani) or Zakariya Ismail Ahmed Hersi.
This inclusion of these seven al-Shabaab leaders follows previous administrative actions taken against the group in 2008 including listing it as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organisation and listing both Ahmed Abdi Aw Mohamed (Godane; Abu Zubeyr) and Sheikh Abu Mukhtar Robow as Specially Designated Global Terrorists under Executive Order 13224.
The original Media Statement from the U.S Department of State regarding the announcement to list these leaders as part of the 'Rewards for Justice' program can be read below.
