New Video from Omar Hammami (Abu Mansour al-Amriki)

The release on 19 October of a new video from the al-Shabaab foreign fighter and propagandist Omar Hammami (Abu Mansour al-Amriki) is interesting in so far that it provides further insight into his previously video that was posted on the internet on 16 March 2012. What is in fact particularly interesting is the apparent belief on the part of Abu Mansour al-Amriki that the leadership of al-Qaeda may be able to wield influence over internal al-Shabaab disputes.

Regardless of the ability of the leadership of al-Qaeda to intervene or indeed of outcome of the internal disputes within the leadership of al-Shabaab, it is probable that the career of Abu-Mansour al-Amriki is effectively over within the group.
